My name is Carol Hightshoe and I am the senior acquisitions editor for Flying Pen Press, a new publishing house located
in Denver, Colorado. The publisher is looking for well crafted tales in a variety of genres. I personally am reading for
Fantasy - both in adult and young adult fiction.
For novel-length fiction, please send a synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript, as .rtf attachments, to the
address listed below:
For fantasy please send to submissions@FlyingPenPress.com - Please put "Flying Pen Press - Fantasy Submission: 'the
title of your manuscript'" in the subject line.
For Young Adult fantasy please send to submissions@FlyingPenPress.com - Please put "Flying Pen Press - Imagination

Please follow standard manuscript formatting when submitting:
Manuscripts should be double-spaced
Indicate scene breaks with # or another symbol - but please be consistent throughout
Italics should be indicated by underlining
Please use tabs to indent the first line
Your synopsis can be single-spaced, but should be no more than 3-4 pages.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will be asked to be resubmitted after they have been reformatted.
Please only send polished and edited material for consideration. While a manuscript may not be rejected out of hand for
grammatical issues, you will asked to rewrite and polish the manuscript before a decision is made on it.
All submissions should include: word count and a brief paragraph about the story and the target audience.
You need to also include the following contact information: your email address, phone number, and mailing address.
A brief note on word counts:
I don't have a firm maximum word count - it should be based on what it takes to tell the story properly.
Minimum word counts:
65,000 words.
