Selaynia has been touched by the WolfSong of the Canthralian Wolves - a sentient race of telepathic wolves who share
their world with humans who colonized there centuries ago.
Most of the humans eventually bond with one of the wolves forming a partnership and friendship that runs very deep. But,
Selaynia has yet to be chosen by one of the wolves. She and Jaharel, go into the Valley of Mists to seek out the wolves
and see why her clan elders say she has been touched by the WolfSong.
What they find are raiders who are stealing the wolf pups to sell as pets and a group of Centauri Alliance operatives who
want to stop the raiders. Jaharel warns her against working with the outsiders but she ignores him.
Despite being bonded to one of the wolves, she is eventually exiled by her clan and forced to leave her home and the
WolfSong that is now a part of her soul.

When she finally escapes from a former Alliance world now under Confederation control, she finds herself in the Kellis
system and being asked to return home. The Rhiash have been stealing the Canthralian pups in order to use them to
enhance their own telepathic abilities.
When she returns the Canthralas, she is betrayed by the person she once loved - Jaharel - and it is only through her bond
with Shadowmist, her wolf, that she is able to convince the Canthralians that they must fight.
